Classes I to X FAQs
Common questions from parents about our primary, middle, and secondary school curriculum.
Which grades are covered under the Secondary Wing at Jupiter Public School?
Jupiter Public School's general schooling curriculum covers Classes I through X. It is organized into three distinct developmental tiers: the Primary Wing (Classes I–V), the Middle School Wing (Classes VI–VIII), and the Secondary School Wing (Classes IX & X), providing a seamless educational journey on one unified campus.
What subjects are compulsory and how does the Three-Language Formula work?
For Classes VI to X, Mathematics, Science, English, and Social Science (Social Studies) are compulsory subjects. In Classes VI through VIII, students follow the Three-Language Formula and choose two languages out of Odia, Hindi, and Sanskrit alongside English. In Classes IX and X, students continue with one specialized second language selected from the two they studied in Class VIII.
How does the examination and assessment system differ between Primary and Secondary?
Primary students (Classes I–V) follow a low-stress, continuous developmental framework consisting of 2 Unit Tests, 2 Summative Assessments, and 4 Formative Assessments per year. Secondary students (Classes IX & X) undergo an 8-stage academic evaluation cycle comprising 4 Unit Tests, 3 Periodic Tests, and 1 Annual Model Examination to systematically alleviate board exam anxiety and build stamina for CBSE AISSE.
Do students need private tuition outside school?
No. Jupiter Public School is intentionally structured to be self-sufficient. Our faculty prepares comprehensive chapter-wise study materials and worksheets for thorough home practice. For additional support, we run after-school Booster Classes for challenging topics and Remedial Classes for missed lessons—ensuring every child excels without outside tuition burden.
How does the 1:1 Teacher Mentorship program work?
Every student is assigned a dedicated faculty mentor. The mentor monitors academic velocity, helps the student design an effective and balanced home study timetable, ensures emotional motivation, and acts as a responsive point of contact for resolving student or parental grievances promptly.
When does preparation for competitive examinations (NTSE, Olympiads, Pre-IIT) begin?
Orientation starts as early as Class VIII. Top-performing students are organized into specialized talent groups for the Math Olympiad (IMO), Science Olympiad (NSO), English Olympiad (IEO), Cyber Olympiad (NCO), General Knowledge Olympiad (IGKO), and NTSE. In addition, our Pre-IIT and Pre-Medical foundation modules introduce advanced problem-solving concepts early.
What boarding and transport options are available for Classes 1 to 10?
Parents can choose between Day Boarding and Residential Boarding. Day scholars have access to our secure, GPS-monitored bus fleet covering routes across Bhubaneswar, Khurda, and Jatni. For outstation or residential students, we offer dedicated hostels with separate AC and Non-AC wings, supervised evening study hours, and hygienic in-house dining.
How does Jupiter Public School facilitate transition into Classes XI & XII (+2 Science & Commerce)?
Students completing Class X at JPS enjoy preferential admission into our Senior Secondary wing (Classes XI–XII). Science students receive fully integrated coaching for JEE Main, JEE Advanced, and NEET-UG alongside the CBSE curriculum, and we also offer the Commerce stream with Accountancy, Business Studies, and Economics, all on the same NH-16 campus.
